About meetMED Finance Navigator

meetMED Finance Navigator is a web-based tool and guidelines that aim to assist in the development of bankable energy efficiency projects as part of the meetMED project initiatives, supported by the European Union.

Individuals, SMEs, and local communities acting as project developers or owners lack a comprehensive list of all the financing options available in their countries for energy efficiency investments. Currently, they must search for these options one by one, a task that is not even easy for professionals. Furthermore, even if they manage to identify a potential fund or financing mechanism, the information available is often fragmented and difficult to understand. Details regarding available financing options, eligibility criteria, application procedures etc. may be scattered across various sources, making it challenging for individuals and businesses to gather the necessary information to make informed financial decisions.

The meetMED Finance Navigator initially features a comprehensive list of 21 National Funds, Local Financial Funds, International Funds, International Financial Institutions (IFIs), and United Nations Programs/Funds, along with 36 Financing Mechanisms across 8 countries. As new funds and financing mechanisms emerge, they will be promptly added to our database. Accessing all available funds and financing options will be as simple as a single click.

The user-friendly search tools allow project developers or owners to swiftly identify the financing mechanism that best suits their specific situation and objectives. By inputting responses to 1 to 10 criteria, users can quickly narrow down their options. Once they’ve pinpointed the right financing mechanism, they’ll find all the necessary information conveniently presented on a single page. This information can be easily downloaded as a PDF, saved via QR code, or used to directly contact the financing mechanism through the platform.

Although financing programs may be available, their active status can fluctuate due to factors like funding cycles and strategic changes. Therefore, it’s essential to maintain an up-to-date database of operational programs, highlighting the importance of regular consultation with relevant sources. The platform also offers information on the status of funds or financial mechanisms, indicating whether they are active, pending launch, on hold, or completed.

Project developers and owners need general guidance on various aspects, including the definition of green finance, available financing mechanisms for decentralized energy solutions, characteristics of green financing mechanisms, frameworks for securing financing, incentives for energy efficiency projects, and common approaches to decentralized green energy financing. All this essential information is available on the platform in a clear and simplified manner, along with success stories to inspire.
